Aae mere humsafar....

After a simple lunch, she gets a call from her daughter asking about how her day is going the Mrs in a flowery gown gets back to arranging utensils on the rack. "Oh meri soniyo, meri jaaneman, pani le aa" calls out the Mr in his shaky voice. The Mrs fills a glass of water and hands it out to the toothless pepper haired gentleman. The Mr then walks with the support of his walking stick and wipes the water trail from the kitchen to bedroom left by the Mrs. Old age has made her hands wrinkled and shaky. In the meanwhile the Mrs drinks out of the same glass. She looks at her better half with a twinkle in her eye and recalls him telling her "Tere haath se toh zeher bhi mitha lage..yeh toh fir bhi pani hai". Nodding at the cheesy memory she settles down on the bed. The Mr. then looks into her eyes and pecks her on the forehead. Today on their 60th anniversary, I love you seems to be very small. Silence is enough to decipher every emotion. It is time for their nap. They lie down and reminisce their life from the time they met for the first time. It was love before first sight. Their life was no less than a rollercoaster ride. A lot of ups and equally deep lows, yet they stayed strong. As the years passed by, they started their own family and spent time nurturing their daughter who was now passing those values to her children. Looking back at their life had spread a smile of contentment on their face. Holding hands in their pinky promise gesture, they looked into each others eyes. And the moment froze there. They rose up from their bed to look down upon their lifeless bodies still gazing lovingly at each other. They remembered their vow....we stay man and wife in life and afterlife.
In the distance, a song played....
Ae mere humsafar ae meri jaan-e-ja...
meri manzil hai tu tu hi mera jahaan
ae mere humsafar ae meri jaan-e-ja..
ban gaye aaj ham do badan ek jaan
ae mere humsafar ae meri jaan-e-ja
